As with the base game and subsequent expansions, Books of Knowledge have two primary uses. The first Book of Knowledge you discover for an ability will unlock the ability to be used. The second Book of Knowledge you find for that same ability will upgrade the ability to include additional effects. Below is a breakdown of every new ability, what it does, and what the upgrade adds.

Split Shot
Shoots ten electrified arrows in a cone shape, staggering enemies, and launching chain lightning among nearby targets. The upgrade adds additional effects, including interrupting and knocking back enemies.

Knockback Arrow
Shooting a lightning arrow that stuns enemies around the target and attacks them with chain lightning. The upgrade adds an additional effect, stunning all nearby enemies when the initial target falls to the ground.

Rage Axe
Perform a series of strong attacks that stuns the enemy. Finishing the attack with R2/RT towards the end launches an additional uppercut. The upgrade adds an additional effect to the finisher aspect of the ability, pushing the target back and striking them with chain lightning.

Explosive Retreat
Jump backs to avoid attacks and launch a lightning strike that deals damages to all enemies within range. The upgrade provides an electric shield for 10 seconds, halving all damage.

When he is experiencing the world through Odin’s eyes, Eivor is able to use the special trinket given to Odin by the dwarves, the Hugr-Rip, to absorb special powers from different enemies that he kills. Eivor is able to have up to two powers assigned at any one time but a lot of these powers are situational. For example, the Power of Muspelheim allows you to walk on lava and fire. It’s required in some areas but useless elsewhere. So you often want to switch powers, but this cannot be done easily.

How To Assign Powers In AC Valhalla Dawn Of Ragnarok

You cannot assign or otherwise edit your powers through any in-game interface. Once a power has been discovered, it is permanently unlocked, however, if you want to assign a power that you currently do not have assigned, you need to find a target with that same power again and absorb it as you did the first time.

This will then overwrite one of the two existing powers you have equipped and that power will now be available. At the moment, we’ve not found a way of using more than two powers, so you are restricted on which ones you can use at any given time. There are usually enemies nearby specific objectives, if those objectives require specific powers, so have a quick search of the immediate area and you should be able to find one without issue.

The Dawn of Ragnarok introduces a new feature into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the Valkyrie Arena. Once you have found your first Heroic Saga, Eivor gets a quest to visit the Valkyrie. When you arrive you learn of a new arena that has been setup, to test the mettle of warriors from all the realms to aid Odin at the Dawn of Ragnarok. This is a challenge-based Arena where Odin tells tales of yesteryear, reenacting them in real-time via challenging battles.

Where To Find All Heroic Sagas In AC Valhalla Dawn Of Ragnarok

Each battle that you win rewards you with a new currency, Tokens of Kara. This currency can be spent at the Valkyrie Arena. You can buy a full new armor set, the All-Father’s armor, as well as two new weapons, a shield and a bow. They are very expensive, and having all of the Heroic Sagas is a great way to get more of the currency faster.

Each tale has a difficulty rating, this determines the amount of potential rewards. You can then select Boasts, thematic challenges that adds difficulty and modifiers to the arena battle, in exchange for better rewards. Having more boasts, which is what each Heroic Saga unlocks, increases your potential for currency as there are daily specific boasts that provide additional boosts.

When you are nearing the end of the story campaign for the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, Eivor returns to England and wakens from his dream. You are then given another quest to sit around the campfire with some old friends. When sitting at the campfire there are three options to discuss. Each option that you discuss with your old friends unlocks a new tale. You then bring these tale treasure maps back to Svartalfheim where you can solve them.

Just to be clear, you must be in Svartalfheim to find these locations.

You want to use the flying power to get near to the very top of the structure. You’ll see water pouring out from some vents forming a small waterway. There’s also an Opal here. As long as you have the treasure map in your inventory, you will find the interaction spot directly next to where the Opal is.

You get 1,000 Iron Ore.

Towards the end of the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, Eivor awakens from his dream state and returns to England. There you are given two different quests, one is optional, one is following the main story and going back to sleep to return to Svartalfheim. The quest you want to do is the one that tasks Eivor with resting near the fire and speaking to some old friends. Each old friend will tell a tale of Odin’s adventures, giving Eivor clues to hunt down when he returns to Svartalfheim.

During the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC for AC Valhalla, towards the end of the story arcs, you get given a quest when Eivor awakens and returns to England after witnessing a disturbing event through Odin’s eyes. When he awakens, you need to sit at the campfire and complete the quest where Eivor speaks to three of his old friends. Each friend will tell Eivor a tale, a tale of events that took place in Svartalfheim. These events then give Eivor maps that he can use once he falls asleep and lives through Odin once more.

To find this treasure you need to travel to an island in Vangrinn, right on the Southern tip of the map. There’s a tree on the island, alongside a few snakes. Kill the snakes and then search the base of the tree. You’ll find a pile of bones. Interact with the interaction point to dig up the treasure and complete Trove’s Tale map.

There is a story quest that brings you to this location to open the Sol-ok-Mani Vault. The story quest is very simple, you direct the beam at the correct rotating device and then spin the device to reach the door you need to progress in the story. The other door, which leads to a Book of Knowledge, can be a little trickier.

Solving the puzzle is that simple, you just come here at night. If it’s not currently nighttime you can hold down on the d-pad and select meditate. This will change the current time cycle to the next. If it’s day, it turns it to night. If it’s night, it turns it to day.

With the moonlight now providing light to the other device, you simply aim it at the other rotating device to reach the door.

You can find an enemy in the encampment at this location that teaches you the Power of Rebirth. This special power sets Eivor’s weapon ablaze, dealing fire damage to enemies and igniting them. Enemies killed while the effect is active return from the dead and fight alongside Eivor.

There are two groups of patrols that frequent this area and there is an enemy in each patrol that can teach both the Power of Jotunheim and Power of Winter powers. The Power of Winter deals ice damage to enemies, eventually freezing them; and they can then be shattered and killed instantly. The Power of Jotunheim allows you to use your bow shots on special World Knots that allow you to teleport to fixed locations. Giants and Jotun will not attack you while it is in effect.

This event takes place in the Jordeygr Shelter, one of the few dwarven settlements that remain in the lands. You need to speak with the Blacksmith for the story quest but he’s not at his post. So you speak with two drunken dwarves instead. Brammer and Lom are surprised to see Odin and ask him to finish their rhyme.

There are three possible responses to this question. You can choose in search of warriors, led by their wallowing, or a tall tale. The correct answer is none of them, yay. There are many instances throughout the Assassin’s Creed games that very much match this. Offering the illusion of choice when in reality, the choice doesn’t matter.

It doesn’t matter what choice you make, the dwarves respond in an identical fashion. The dialogue and actions that follow do not change so in short, the answer doesn’t matter, choose whichever you want to say.

This is actually a really simple puzzle, unless you’re like me and you spent 45 minutes aiming the lights at the strange object hovering over the door. There are switches, two, one on the left of the door and one on the right, those are the things you need to light up with the light from the pedestals.

You align the second pedestal with the lock on the right of the door. Then you move to the Pedestal that is above the door and to the right. That Pedestal you aim down at the one directly below it and then aim that one at the lock on the left side of the door. That will open the way ahead and you can progress.
