Fan Community Proves 3D Sonic Is Viable With New Demo Level
After years of development, Sonic the Hedgehog passion project Green Hill Paradise Act 2 is a reality with a fully realized 3D level. See Sega, open world levels can work.
Let me be straight, this Demo Level is a little un-polished and some mechanics don’t work. Don’t let that fool you, this is an amazing accomplishment and true progress for what Sonic can be to the video game industry. After a brief tutorial, the real fun begins with a fully realized world opened up before you. Like I said, some things don’t work but the reality is the potential. If a group of fans can make this for free, imagine what a talented staff of developers could do. Now does Sega know where to hire said talented developers after the disastrous Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric? Seriously, if you think that game was good, just ask yourself why it was critically and publicly panned. Don’t believe me, check the Metacritic yourself here.
Its time for Sega to wisen up and recruit some new talent or at the very least cull these great new ideas into their development. They’ve announced Sonic Mania – 25th Anniversary and its clear that they are masters of the meme. I mean look:
