A quick warning: Whenever you finish a mission in Helldivers 2, at least the early missions, you unlock a new difficulty. So far, we’ve gone from Trivial, to Easy, to Medium, to Challenging, and so on. Helldivers 2 seems to set you on that difficulty automatically, so if you change it, it’ll keep scaling.

Once you get onto the Galactic War Screen of Helldivers 2, you can find the difficulty on the bottom of the screens. You can press L1 and R1 on the PlayStation 5 controller to change the difficulty from there.

Note that you cannot change the difficulty once the mission is started.
