The Elder Scrolls Online Confirmed As Pay-To-Play But Wait, There’s More
First up this week, the hottest gaming news in the MMO genre. Bethesda enjoyed massive success and critical acclaim with The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim, but I don’t think even they have the fan-base to support the latest announcement from Zenimax Online. During a recent interview Matt Firor confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online will be pay-to-play but he also added that the game will include ESO micro-transactions.
Micro-transaction models, also known as item malls, offer players the opportunity to purchase exclusive items and features through a premium currency, costing even more cash than just the monthly subscription. It appears that Zenimax Online have high hopes for The Elder Scrolls Online but many media outlets are already speculating a free-to-play change less than a year after release.
Ubisoft Claim Kinect Will “Never Be Perfect”
The next-generation console wars continue to rage on as we approach the November proving grounds but recent comments from Ubisoft’s Nicolas Joye could prove to be another blow for Microsoft’s struggle to impress the average gamer.
It works. There’s no problems with it, but it’s not perfect. I think the same can be said for practically every new piece of technology but that doesn’t stop the naysayers taking to internet boards in force.
Brand New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer
Activision released a brand new trailer for the nostalgia fueled addition to hugely popular TMNT franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. The upcoming team-based third-person brawler will be launching on the Xbox Live online network for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and on Windows PC via Valve’s digital distribution service, Steam.
Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are back, and ready to kick ass. Featuring intense combat, fluid fighting and co-op support, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is all set and ready to introduce a new generation of gamers to a highly popular cast of characters.
Exciting New Tropico 5 Screenshots Revealed
El Presidente returns following an announcement for the highly anticipated Tropico 5. One of the most successful strategy franchises of our time, Tropico puts players in control of their only little island paradise. Packed with an exciting variety of new gameplay features, completely reworked artistic design and fine tuned mechanics, Tropico 5 is all set to launch the franchise into the next-generation.
The new screenshots show one of the most impressive worlds to-date in Kalypso’s strategy genre. New era’s, a new dynasty feature, advanced trading and both competitive and co-operative multiplayer are just some of the exciting treats in store for Tropico fans.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Wii U Package Revealed
To celebrate the upcoming launch of the hugely anticipated The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Nintendo announced this week a limited edition Zelda themed package for the Wii U. The package includes a copy of the game (via a downloadable code), a Black 32 GB premium Wii U console, a Wii U GamePad controller complete with gold lettering and a golden Hyrule crest.
Accompanying the retail launch in early October will be The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Limited Edition. Complete with a boxed copy of the game, exclusive Zelda artwork and a never before seen Ganondorf figure, this highly collectible item is sure to fly off the shelves fast.
Final Fantasy XIV Fails To Impress….Then Blows You Away
Most of you have probably left all memories of the original Final Fantasy XIV launch behind but Square Enix have felt the need to remind fans with another questionable launch for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Despite the games incredibly lengthy beta process, in which players could only enjoy the game during the weekends, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was not quite ready for launch.
The highly anticipated MMORPG game has been received well by players and critics, although only the ones that can actually play the game. A plethora of problems have stopped thousands from logging into the servers, despite actually paying for the right to do so. However, a large majority of the issues have been solved and despite minor problems with players accessing the game, Square Enix have still broken the record for the most concurrent connections for an MMO game.
Female League Of Legends Champions Too Hot For Iran
A total of 36 female League of Legends Champions have been banned from an upcoming WCG Iran tournament following restrictions imposed by the Iranian government. The event, which is current scheduled to take place from September 12th to September 15th, could potentially see up to 600 gamers competing with over 10,000 spectators expecting to attend.
WCG Iran issued a statement asking for support from the gaming community as they do not share the political views of the Iranian government. Politics aside, removing 36 Champions from a League of Legends tournament is seriously going to change the meta. For more information, including a list of the banned Champions, click here.
Grand Theft Auto V Official Launch Trailer
As we near the September 17th release date for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, the hype train is out of control. The official launch trailer is finally here and with it a small treat of background information relating to the playable characters and backstory.

Nintendo 2DS Announced
The second of the big announcements from Nintendo this week sees an unexpected addition to the handheld market. The new Nintendo 2DS will be launching across Europe on October 12th as a more streamlined version of the Nintendo 3DS that will support both Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS games in 2D.
The Nintendo 2DS will ship with many of the features from its 3D counter-part including the same controls, backwards compatibility and of course, the impressive arsenal of games already released on the Nintendo 3DS device.
