Did the same, just set game difficulty to highest setting. His health regenerates so quickly that it was hard to get his health low enough.

Do not proceed forward.. hang back near the water fall and while sneaking walk behind your friend and start stabbing him in the back, he will start to loose life but will always come back and never offer to hurt you. I’ve done this and maxed my sneaking to 100 aswell as lvl up to 18 in less than 15 minutes.
