By now a lot of us have pledged our allegiance to the next-generation of consoles but with Christmas just around the corner, there’s plenty of gaming news to get us excited. Many may expect the news front to be a little slow following the launch of two of the most anticipated consoles of our time but developers and publishers are hard at work trying to prepare titles for a very busy Christmas period.

Until Dawn Has Not Been Cancelled
Amazon recently sent out a round of emails informing users that pre-ordered Until Dawn that it had been cancelled by the publishers. Thankfully VG247 chased up a comment from Managing director Pete Samuels in which he stated Until Dawn “is most definitely not cancelled”. Amazon have yet to follow up with an official comment but the email was most likely due to the previously expected 2013 release, which is quite obviously not going to happen. But all in all, good news for fans of this upcoming PlayStation Move title.
YouTube Crippling Game Channels
Several high profile YouTube gaming channels have been hit hard following the recent changes to YouTube which update the websites automated process involved in claiming copyright infringement on videos using in-game footage. Thousands of videos have been removed and millions of subscribers disappointed as their favorite videos disappear from the internet. Several big name developers including Bungie and Blizzard, have come forward saying they’re happy for individuals to publish and monetize videos using their content, despite copyright flags appearing on said videos. It’s a story we expect to hear a lot more about in coming months so watch this space.
If you frequent any YouTube gaming channels, now is your time to really shine. Help share posts via Facebook, check if they have an official website and look for other means to support your favorite YouTube personalities.
Xbox One Doesn’t Quite Support 500GB
A website recently put the Xbox One to the test, downloading as much as it possibly could to reveal the actual storage space available on the 500GB Hard Drive. They were able to download a little over 362GB before the hard drive was unable to support any additional data, 138GB less than the 500GB capacity. Obviously the internet exploded in frustration but this is the normal for hard drives today. Operating systems and other basic functions all take up space and 362GB is more than enough storage for your typical gamer.
Call Of Duty: Ghosts Flops On Wii U
Call of Duty: Ghosts continues to dominate the best selling charts but there’s a few fields this FPS giant has yet to conquer. According to a recent report the Wii U is only responsible for 1% of the global sales. This coincides with the typically lackluster launch on PC, with an average of 10,000 players during peak times. It’s hard to be negative about the best selling game on both past and new generation systems, but it goes to show that not every market is ready for the famous franchise. Either that or people are already using the Wii U as an expensive shelf end.
Square Enix Shock FFXIV Fans With New House Prices
The highly anticipated 2.1 Update is rapidly approaching its December 17th release date and as Square Enix release the official patch notes, the community respond in shock to the disclosed house prices. The update is bringing a massive amount of new content to the game including new dungeons, additional difficulty options for Primals and current instances, and of course Free Company housing. Players will need to pool their resources as prices are set to be as high as 250 million Gil for the more sought after locations. Let’s hope the individual player housing isn’t that expensive.
