Grand Theft Auto V Stock Market: How To Make Easy Money

Grand Theft Auto V Stock Market: How To Make Easy Money
Grand Theft Auto V is awash with complex mechanics and features, one of which includes the in-game stock market. This Grand Theft Auto V Stock Market: How To Make Easy Money guide will teach you everything you need to know to run the stock markets like a Wall Street pro. Whether you want to invest short and fast or invest big for the long haul, both options are perfectly viable when playing GTAV.

There are a few things you must take into account before you venture into the stock market. Firstly don’t waste your time investing during the very early stages. With 1-2 minor exceptions it’s pretty static in regards to offline stocks. You want to wait until you have access to the assassination missions. This missions usually involve taking our a head figure in a certain company, so that is when you purchase stocks in a rival company before taking the target down. This plummets stock for that company while increasing the rivals.

There are two types of stocks in Grand Theft Auto V. BAWSAQ and LCN. Although these may appear identical on the surface, they’re not. BAWSAQ shares are influenced by the general Grand Theft Auto V community so as players purchase more weapons and armor, or add new mods, shares in Ammu-Nation and Customs increase. The LCN shares are offline and only change based on your actions within the game itself, as such these are the best investments for new brokers as they pose less risk.

As you venture forward in your journey through San Andreas you will have the opportunity to assassinate important figures, destroy or sabotage shops, or take out a large number of vehicles. These represent the perfect opportunity to invest as you’ll soon find big changes in the market. For example, if you were to destroy a few Cluckin’ Bell restaurants their stocks would plummet while Burger Shot would rise. In this situation you would purchase stocks in Burger Shot before destroying the Cluckin Bell restaurant. After you see the Burger Shot plummet and Cluckin Bell rise, sell your stocks and then change the order. So tear down Burger Shot instead of Cluckin’ Bell and there we go. This is just a general example but it works in many aspects of the game that involve any form of competition. However, if you really want the big money read below.

Sadly I missed the first one but I’ll keep note from here on out. During the assassination missions you will be told which company will benefit from your assassinations. As such you want to be sure to grab as many stocks in that company as possible. I spent my entire savings, $262,000 (at the time) on investing shares and the payout afterwards was $325,000, so it’s clear that it works. I’ve highlighted the assassination missions below along with the company you want to invest in:

To maximize your profits be sure to invest in the company with every character available to you at that time BEFORE the mission as you’re not able to switch during the mission. Also one of the guest heroes, Micah, has supplied some valuable intel. If you’re already on a mission when reading this you can fail the mission and cancel it, not replay. This will allow you to invest with all 3 characters.

A very valuable tip from Every_Time_I_Sneeze_I_Fart. Save the assassination missions until AFTER you complete the game. This will give you $25 million to invest with each character, minimum. Making your return much bigger and easily providing enough cash to purchase the remaining properties.

The Hotel Assassination – Invest In Beta Pharmasuticals, BAWSAQ
The Multi Target Assassination – Invest In Debonaire
The Vice Assassination – Fruit shares, BAWSAQ
The Bus Assassination – Lester suggests avoiding Vapid Motor Company, so sell if you have any shares in that company.
Construction Assassination – Invest In Gold Coast Development ( I invested $1,046,903 across all characters, returned home and slept. Then cashed in after after and saw a $547,10 profit)

FullThrottle and Voldo have also warned that you can lose up to half of your cash with Michael when completing the mission “Did somebody say yoga?”. So be sure to invest in reliable stock before hand.

It’s also worth noting that you can get stock tips from characters within the game world and during radio advertisements, so keep your ears open. Any extra tips for budding entrepreneurs? Leave a comment below and we’ll be sure to add the information to the guide, crediting your name as well.

A community member has also provided a list of competitors. This allows you to manipulate the market how you see fit. Destroy one sides assets and watch the other side score.

  1. It works. However, I didn’t know that these were the assassination missions so I didn’t get the other characters to invest before I started it. Luckilly, I was too quick on the gun, and the CEO got away, and I was killed. I didn’t “Replay” the mission, instead I canceled it, jumped to the other characters, invested in Bettapharmasuticals with all 3, and then was able to restart the mission. So, if you forgot, you can fail the mission, and then go ahead and invest with the other characters.

      1. You can also just save game before starting an assissanation mission. This way it wont ruin your stats or money by failing/ dying

  3. Ive been following your post here as I am really interested in stock exchange side of things. I was trying to listen closely and then going back to re-read the dialouge of what to invest in however I didnt see anything in the market that suggested iFruit. I assumed it was LifeInvader and of course that didnt go over well lol. I dont mind helping out either as I come across things as well but perhaps you could be more clear on this. I am far past that point however I have several friends that are coming up on these missions. Thanks for the help thus far.

    1. Hey Funk,

This was suggested by a community member in another thread. I was a bit skeptical as it was part of the BAWSAQ market, which is not usually used in single player. So I’ve removed it for now until I get to the missions myself.

It is possible that not all missions have the opportunity to milk the market. Thanks for your input, it’s greatly appreciated 😀

      1. Not a problem at all. I have also came across some intel that if we were to invest in a certain Dealership of automobiles or airline and then take the competitor out we can also inflate the market for the said stock invested in. Only problem I am having is finding an actual dealership and/or airline to go and destroy the other vehicles. Know of any location of one within the city? If we could find this and go in and destroy it then it would inflate the other. Let me know.

        1. I have also read the same information and experienced a similar problem to you. Outside of the 24/7s I’ve not found many stores I can access. I’m sure robbing enough would lower the share costs but I’m not sure how to influence the rise without just relying on pure luck and time.

The only car dealership I can recall is the one you see in the beginning. I’ve got a couple of missions to dust off for another guide then I’ll look into it a bit more. I’ll be sure to let you know of any findings

          1. any accessible stores and all cash registers can be robbed if you aim at the clerk before entering and shoot each cash register, I just threw this in here on slight relevance, it might be common knowledge at this point.

          2. I believe that BAWSAQ has most if not all of the air lines/ car manufacturer stocks right? Well here’s what im thinking, You will be able to exploit these when GTA online comes out, having more chances to buy property, and businesses.

    2. Just as an added update. I’m on that mission now. He does mention the Fruit shares, however there is nothing correlating to that in the offline stocks, online are still down. I’ve searched the in-game internet for the company, the CEO and other events to no avail.

      1. I’ve made massive profits through bawsaq based on singleplayer stock tips I am confident only select company’s tie into additional story/stock value, Some might think starting over with all the wisdom might net them the maximum amount of cash; but if you are efficient, make money off of property and leave some of the major stock opportunities”i.e missions” alone till After you have Immense capital you can keep vastly gaining well after the silver platters are gone.

  5. So I was looking online and the Beta Pharmaceuticals stocks aren’t showing up. Do you have to search for them or what???

    1. I also do not see Beta Pharmaceuticals anywhere. It’s probably on the always online ‘BAWDAQ’ though. Just so we can’t abuse the massive increases in price as EVERYBODY and their mother would be exploiting this

  9. Also doing some random events will pay off in the long run, for example I
saved a kids bike from a thief and it turns out he was a billionaire owner of the
all-natural pet food company as a gift he gave me $100,000 in stocks in his
company that had shown to be rising throw-out the beginning of the game

  11. SPOILER BUT IMPORTANT::: Dump all of your money into anything before taking the son to the burger joint as this mission results in half of your available cash being taken by Amanda and the kids

    1. Can you provide a little more information? Name of the mission or when it starts? I’ll be sure to add it to the guide as you’ll probably save the GTA community millions 😀

        1. I think I’ve done that one and don’t recall losing cash. Strange. I’ve updated the guide and credited your names. Thanks guys 😀

          1. i dumped my money in to stocks right before as a hunch on something. left me with $250, after the mission was over I thought the note said something (paraphrasing) ” im taking the kids and half your money I saw $-125 after the mission passed screen flashed… if I’m wrong let me know community but I was fairly sure that what I saw

  13. SPOILER: while LifeInvader stock NEVER EVER recovers (yet somehow the website is referenced constantly and still used) the other stocks DO recover after the assassinations.
For example, Redwood Cigarettes increases in price after a few days in the market. So buy the Debonaire Cigs stock before the mission, kill the dudes, cash in, and then re-invest in the crashed Redwood stock. After a few in game days the stock normalizes and returns to it’s amazing prior to assassination value while Debonaire goes back to being significantly less valuable.
I’ve tested this with Redwood/Debonaire, and have seen that the stock that gets affected in The Hotel assassination returns to it’s prior value after a few in game days.
Also, as the random bike guy that gives Animal Ark stock says, organic animal food is recession proof… and it’s true. I’ve NEVER lost money on Animal Ark stock. It rarely has major dips and steadily increases (tested over 15 in-game days YMMV)

    1. Eh? I followed your guide on the Multi-Target Assassination. I cashed in for debonaire with 82% profit, and then I invested on the crashed redwood, let a few days pass and for my surprise, I sold them with a profit of 300%, no joke, with the money I had, I made 160.000.000$ profits on every character besides the 53.000.000 I invested in the first place, did you get the same values?

      1. I foolishly DIDN’T invest in redwood as i thought they’d be financially ruined forever like LifeInvader. However it did teach me that all stocks that aren’t lifeinvader do rebound.
You made 160 million per character? You’ve made 30x more money than I ever made in the game. good on ya buddy!

        1. Something in between 150 and 160 millions, Right now, each one of the characters have around 200million. I’ll try to do the same thing on the remaining missions. maybe I’ll get lucky again.

however, I think the game glitched, by the time I invested on redwwod it was -24%, and after getting the massive profit the stock was still down at the same value.

      1. Sorry for the delay Drago, comment was marked as spam due to the image. Do you have any information on when this drop occurred? I monitored it very closely and never saw a drop that size. Did you happen to kill a crap load of dogs before hand? 😀

      2. Whoa, my condolences. If killing dogs en masse makes it drop, i’m totally going to do that. Will killing lots of bikini babes also make Gastroband stock crash?

  15. Hey guys. Someone has suggested that Augery Insurance stock prices are influenced by in-game destruction. I’ve yet to test it but will add it once tested.

Simply buy stocks, go on a rampage and cause as much damage as possible.

    1. Wouldn’t that make the stocks go down, as they would have to payout on claims? I think trashing cars makes you money if you’re bought the scrapyard property though.

  17. Can anyone explain how to get money through the car dealerships? I heard about this but can’t find out how to do it

    1. Hey RL. The only way I know of doing this is to destroy a certain type of car over and over, this will make its competition rise. However, I think this is only in the online market. It’s not an area I’ve looked into YET 😀

      1. I’m wondering which stocks are for the dealerships and were they are located on the map. I have no idea were to invest so I can do this

  19. the one that he says not to invest in Vapid stocks. right after the mission dump your money into it they should drop half way and then wait a couple of game days by sleeping and it will recover doubling your money i just made a 3 million dollar profit off it

  21. save those assassination missions till after the story,..or til you have more capital as going all in on those sure stock rises will make each character richer than you ever dreamed.

      1. Next time I comment here Ill use a serious account..and np, I’ve been speculating on Goldcoast and how the stock value rises monumentally, with not only the last assassination but Possibly the Union Depository Heist. If they Both have the same effect on the stock value, I may do both back to back with large investments, and sell on top. Speculation though.

    1. This does not work. You have to do the first one at least in order to start the 3rd heist. Trevor will get a text from Franklin saying he has to put the heist on hold because he has work to do with Lestor.

  22. save those assassination missions till after the story,..OR until you have More Capital as going all in on those sure stock rises will make each character richer than you ever dreamed. EDIT: the first assassination is mandatory to my knowledge; I was likely unclear with my original statement, fyi buying in on Tinkle stock early game would do you big favours as well.
Personal i.e I waited until I had 10 milllion before doing the hotel assassination…I also got in on tinkle late but It still went well, As I invested close to 20 million per character on it.

  27. Fully dynamic stocks was promised by Rock Star so all advise from other
gamers should be met with the same warning of real stocks! Invest at
your own risk and don’t invest what you cant afford to lose (that being said it’s a game! lol )

  29. Hey! I hope somebody may be able to answer this! Other than assassination missions, do any storyline missions affect the stock market. I have seen on maybe 2 other sites that The Big Score mission will affect GoldCoast stock. Is this true? Also, does destroying rival equipment (planes, trucks, vehicles) really work effectively?

    1. I kept playing and found some 2 story missions that greatly affect the stock market. Before starting the mission “Legal Troubles” sell all stock for FlyUS. The price for this stock will fall substantially after this mission. Then buy tons of it after, it’s the lowest I have ever seen it go. Then before the mission “Meltdown” sell your stock if you have any in RichardsMajestic. The price will fall quite a bit after this mission. I am guessing it would be a good idea to buy plenty of that stock after the mission and then purchase the theaters later. There is probably a whole lot more I didn’t see earlier in the game in the story missions. I hope this helps someone!

    2. I invested in GoldCoast before the last mission, and it didn’t affect it one bit. I don’t know why it would either.

  31. I’ve just finished the last heist and grossed a lovely $38mil from it. So I’m gonna game save, invest all of it into a transport company (USPostal or something), and then sabotage all the other planes in the airport with my jet I stole from the military base. Hopefully the stocks should rise, then I cash these in, purchase the stock from the ones I’ve just destroyed at low cost, and wait for them to grow again, then sell. Sounds good in theory haha.

WCS is that I just have to reload my previous game save and I have all my money back

      1. Very late ass comment here almost 2 full years this stock trick probably doesn’t even work anymore and almost no one player GTA V anymore, but getting into the military base and stealing a jet is far easier than u think even back when i first started playing GTA it was easier than i expected, u just need guidance from someones else who’s knows what their doing.

  33. The bus assasination was the most profitable one for for me, i saw a 100% return on investment you just have to play the market right.. complete the mission and go to the safe house, sleep to advance time (you dont actually have to save but you can) wake up and check the price of vapid (symbol VAP on the BAWSAQ) mine fell quite a bit like 99.92% then i bought as many shares as i could with each character and kept sleeping to advance time and switching back and forth between characters (sleep with one character switch to another and sleep with that character checking the price each time) after a few times doing this the share price came back up and it showed a 100% gain in the my portfolio tab.. i hadn’t spent much money at all, no properties bought yet so i had a good bit of money with each character to invest so i made around 8 million between all characters from doing this.. just wanted to share with the community, happy “investing” lol

  35. Biggest win for me was quadrupling my investment in Redwood after Debonaire had peaked. After the assassination mission, Redwood went from 180ish down to 46 per share. Few in-game days (it took quite a while for me) later and it was back up.

  37. worth noting you can save the last heist for after the campaign – I did this and invested $16m in Gold Coast – profited $13m. No idea if you can save more of these for after you make the big score.

    1. I believe you can save all of them for the end. Maybe not the first one, though. I ended up I foolishly did the first 2 before the last Heist. I did the last 3 after I got my 38m and ended up with $270m after doing the last 3 assassinations.

  39. For the assassination mission with the bus. Lester says “avoid vapid until after the acquisition” meaning you can buy the stocks, just do it after you kill the guy. i bought the stocks after killing the guy, they dropped from 504 to 204. and when i was ready to sell it went up to 408. doubled my money since i invested my whole $330,000,000+ into it

  43. Tip, although lifeinvader doesnt recover really, it can be profitable. It bottoms out at 2 or 3 dollars snd will fluctuate between 3 and 7 so you can potentially net a healthy return consistently without a hefty investment per share. ?..
