How To Increase Approval Rating In Manor Lords

The approval rating of your region is directly tied to its prosperity. Without high approval, you will not attract new Families to your settlement, and you run the risk of current Families leaving the region.

On the in-game overlay you can see your current Approval Rating marked by the hand icon at the top of the screen. This is, typically at least, usually green or yellow.

It’s important to keep your Approval Rating above 50% so that you are able to attract new Families.

The exact requirements for increasing your Approval Rating vary depending on your current Burgage level but for the purpose of this guide, we’ll assume you are just starting out and have basic Burgage Plots.

Inspect one of your Burgage sections, the houses you construct for your Families to live in. This will bring up a list of “Requirements”, these are actually the factors that influence your Approval Rating.

So, to start with, you want to ensure you have a Well built on a water source. This will solve the “Water Access” requirement.

Then, the Church requirement, simply requires you to construct a Church anywhere in your region.

The final three factors are Food, Fuel, and Clothing. It’s very important to understand that there are two components to each of these factors.

You may have fuel stored by a house may still have a negative Approval Rating for a lack of Fuel. You may have 1,000 eggs on the market, but a family may still complain about the food.

This is because of the two factors, both number and variety. For Fuel, you will need enough to ensure every household can stay heated. For food, you will need enough to feed each household and at least 1-3 different types of food, depending on the level.

Bonus Tip

Marketplace supplies suffer reduced effectiveness at distance. A great piece of advice is to build all of your Burgage Plots need your market for maximum effectiveness and ease of upgrades. For more useful tips, be sure to check out our collection of Manor Lords Walkthrough Guides.

Finally, Clothing, this one is a little trickier. You need to construct a Livestock Trading Post and import some Sheep. Construct a Pasture, under the farming section, and imported sheep will automatically go to that Pasture.

Then, construct a Sheep Farm to change the Wool into Yarn. The Yarn is enough for a high Clothing rating early on in the game.

So, to summarize:

  • Construct a Well on an underground water source
  • Construct a Church anywhere in the region
  • Make sure you have enough Fuel to heat all homes
  • Make sure to have as much food and variety as possible, the more variety, the higher the approval
  • Import Sheep and shear their wool to create Yarn and fulfill the Clothing requirement
