Advance Strike Mechanic Coming to The King of Fighters XV January 30

SNK’s The King of Fighters XV will receive a free content update on January 30 that will bring with it the Advance Strike mechanic

What is the Advance Strike mechanic? This new system gives players the chance to make aggressive plays in each battle by protecting themselves against throws and attacks.

More specifically, it provides a hard knockdown on hit, helping players become more well-placed for additional offense. While it costs half a power gauge bar, this is soon restored on both hit and block. This is different from the Shatter Strike counter attack, as it grants a counter hitbox against throws partway through.

In our review of The King of Fighters XV, which we scored 90/100, we had nothing but praise for the game:

Pack your bags for South Town – KOF is back. The deep and stylish gameplay that put the series on the map is back and better than ever, and the inclusion of rollback netcode ensures this dream match never ends. The King of Fighters XV Review, Casey Scheld

Players can dive into this tournament with The King of Fighters XV for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Windows, Steam, and the Epic Games Store).
